Richard Holmes

Rick Holmes arrived in January to serve as Interim Pastor of Christ Reformed Presbyterian Church. Previously he served as pastor in South Dakota, North Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, and Maryland. Rick is a graduate of the University of Maryland, of Westminster Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree, and holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He came to Christ as he graduated from High School during the Jesus Movement. Among his rich experiences in college were attending InterVarsity East and sitting under the teaching of J.I. Packer and John Stott, who became his heroes, at the C.S. Lewis Institute. Rick’s passions in ministry include teaching the Word of God in such a way as to equip people to understand and apply the Scriptures to their own lives, so that they see Christ in all of Scripture. He desires to see God heal and transform people, so that they serve others in and beyond the church to further Christ’s Kingdom. His life verse is “And he said to them, ‘Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the Kingdom of Heaven is like a master of a house, who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.’” (Matthew 13:51-52) If you are around Rick he will seek to show you the riches of the Old Testament as it points to Christ. Rick and his wife, Nancy, have been married since 1977 and have three married children and five grandchildren.
